At Gold & Platinum Studio, we offer a reliable and efficient jewellery repair service. Work is carried out on site at our Bath studio and workshop in the UK. We have three fully qualified goldsmiths with many years experience.

Some small repairs and adjustments can be done on the same day. Please call ahead so we can book you in.

We offer a free clean and polish service for all pieces made by us.

Repairs

At the studio we are able to complete a wide range of fine jewellery repairs including:

• Fixing chains, including replacing catches
• Re-sizing rings
• Strengthening or replacing worn settings
• Resetting stones or sourcing replacement stones to reset
• Cleaning and polishing of jewellery

We recommend bringing in your jewellery repairs to be assessed by a member of staff or email us images and we shall do our best to advise you.

Remodelling

If your item of jewellery is beyond repair or no longer to your taste, it may be worth exploring options to have it remodelled into something new.

We recommend booking a design appointment with our head goldsmith Michael so he can assess the jewellery you are hoping to transform and work with you to design some potential outcomes. Design appointments and quotations are always complimentary.

There are a few things to consider when looking to rework existing pieces of jewellery. Some metals are not suitable for remodelling. Generally yellow gold, of any carat, can be melted down and reworked into something new. Gemstones if they’re in good condition can be reused or where applicable can be re-polished by a lapidarist.

Our clients story…

This dazzling green sapphire and diamond ring (pictured) was hand crafted using gold and diamonds from pieces of jewellery that our client had inherited from their Grandmother. They wanted to have a piece made that was exactly their style, incorporating the heirloom jewellery so that the sentimental value of those pieces was still present.

After a design appointment with our team, where we assessed the jewellery and discussed a few different designs, our client decided to have a cluster ring made with a green sapphire at it’s centre. The making process began with removing any stones from the jewellery and melting down the gold. The gold was then hammered, shaped and filed into the desired form and the stones set. And after one final polish this beautiful ring was now ready for our client to collect.

Engraving

We offer jewellery engraving services and work with two highly skilled hand engravers who we trust due to their many years of experience in the field. One specialises in hand engraving script and the other uses traditional techniques to seal engrave your family crest on to signet rings. 

Valuations

For insurance or probate purposes we offer an on-site jewellery valuation service. Our expert gemmologist and goldsmith Michael will make a full assessment of the jewellery and you will receive a detailed valuation document. We need to assess each item in person prior to valuation. You will be given an approximate cost for the valuation before deciding if you would like to proceed.
